Amazing diversity of shorebirds drop by Fern Ridge

August was a little cooler than usual, but still dry. There were a number of unusual birds found at Fern Ridge Reservoir during the month, and the sightings seemed to “feed upon themselves.” This is a birding phenomena whereby one person finds a rare or unusual bird, so others come looking for it and find something else rare or unusual, which brings more people who find unusual birds, and so on.
