The first couple weeks of the breeding season were cool and moist, which could have caused some of the late migrants to linger before moving on. Since then, it has been dry and quite warm. Again, Fern Ridge Reservoir provided excellent birding with water levels in the diked ponds good for shorebirds and an increase in Great Basin species summering.
