Our monthly Bird Walk is held on the third Saturday of each month. All levels of birders are welcome, from novice to expert. A $3 donation is suggested for Bird Walk participants. Audubon2Audubon Extended Birding TripSeptember 3-6: Fall Migration. Blue Mountain Audubon will host us for an observation of migrating waterfowl and shorebirds along the Columbia flyway near Walla Walla, Washington. Expect some unusual vagrants. Bring a camp chair – it gets hot this time of year, so we’ll put our chairs in the river in the heat of the day and observe birds across the way. Cost TBA, approximately $300 for lodging, gas, and leadership. Food extra. Trip limited to 8. All levels of birders are welcome, from first timer to expert. Questions? Bon voyage to Vaux's Swifts at Agate HallLane County Audubon Society is holding its annual fall swift events outside Agate Hall on Friday, September 17 and 24 at sunset. Look for the LCAS banner at 17th and Agate Street. Stop by and enjoy this annual natural phenomenon. Call 541-343-8664 for more information. Swift Watch Volunteers Needed This is in partnership with a West coast effort from B.C. to Mexico headed up by Larry Schwitters in Washington. Shorebirds and coastal sanctuariesIt's time to get over to the coast for migrating shorebirds. We'll spend time birding around Florence before meeting up with Paul Engelmeyer at Audubon's Ten Mile Creek Sanctuary in Yachats. This will be an opportunity to see birds, learn about the sanctuary, and learn more about marine reserves as well. Bring appropriate clothing layers for coast, a lunch, and gas money for carpooling. All levels of birders are welcome, from first timer to expert. This is an ALL DAY event. We will meet at South Eugene High at 19th and Patterson, rain or shine, at 7:00 a.m. and return by 5PM. A $3 donation is suggested, as well as a share of gas costs for carpooling. Please note: As a precaution, do not leave valuables in your parked car. Questions?
