Birding tips from The Quail: Finley Wildlife Refuge

Finley NWR in Monroe has recently improved the bird watching facilities. Parking areas providing excellent viewing opportunities have been added or improved throughout the park.

A blind overlooking McFadden's Marsh on Bruce Road is in an excellent location. Behind the park headquarters a charming, covered viewing platform offers a sweeping panorama of Cabell Marsh and the coast range beyond. This structure, in a small grove of trees, also provides close-ups of some woodland birds such as chickadees, kinglets and wrens.

Other viewing platforms, wheelchair accessible walkways and interpretive signs have been added.
